The council held a two-day Fashion Meet Expo 2022. The exhibition aims to bring together the entire textile ecosystem, from fiber to fashion, including manufacturers, accessories players, dyestuffs, machine manufacturers, startups, designers, agents of purchase, exporters and fashion institutes.
The fair was opened by Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Jardosh at Apparel House Gurugram on April 21.
“The Council is making rigorous efforts to promote the India brand on various global platforms, showcasing its strength in sustainability, circularity, ethical sourcing and manufacturing, labor standards, employment of women,” Goenka said in a statement.
Exports of ready-made garments in 2021-22 amounted to USD 16 billion, an increase of 30.4% over the previous year. The main markets for Indian textile and garment exports are the United States, the European Union, Asia and the Middle East.
Quoting the minister, the council said export opportunities for the sector have been improved with the signing of free trade agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Australia.
